Ccapehart1980: okay i just had my 4l60E rebuilt with a corvette servo and stage 1 rebuild kit and it doesnt shift hard and chirp the tires the only thing the vette servo did was now if i put my foot to the floor in 2nd it holds the shift till like almost 6000rpms it doesnt shift any harder Bajaheat: how hard is install rescuebox7: wish my truck did this, just put the servo in and i can't get. Oct 21, 2009 Im almost positive I installed and sealed the servo with the spring (between casting and piston) off. But the 4.3 is in mine and it does really do it justice. Love those positive shifts! In fact I thought the shifts would be alot firmer but it turned out just right. Hands down it's the best and cheapest upgrade I ever did to my truck. No doubt! Cheers!

If you just put the parts in you might end up with a band adjustment thats too tight. That can really mess up the 2-3 shift timing/band release, 3-4 apply. Or you could get lucky, I'd choose to check it.

The pin is held in place by the inner and outer springs via the servo pistons and it is none adjustable. Here is the description: 'This servo pin will help you get your band adjusted to the right clearance. It's almost more important to get the right clearance as it is to change to the Corvette servo. If you push in on your servo cover, you'll notice that it moves in around 1/8'-1/4'. This is way too much travel; it should be closer to 1/16'. This pin reduces the servo travel down so you'll be in the right range. This is a must for any performance, towing, RV/off-road application, but would be a nice upgrade for any 700R4 or 4L60E. Since the servo isn't traveling as far before it applies the band, the 1-2 and 3-4 shift will be quicker and will not allow the servo to go beyond it's travel inside the servo bore'. Transman, if you read this could you please put in your thoughts on this subject? BTW, so far so good, the transmission has never shifted better than it does now, even when it was brand new. They sure seem to have you sold. You most likely would see the same difference with just the servo. Did you compare your pin with the new one? There is a chance you already had the size pin they gave you. The band is adjusted during initial assembly by checking servo travel and using longer or shorter pins. I guess you can just slap any pin in there, but I would at least check it. But hey if it works it works.........

I think the transmission is set-up with less travel when new, but the band will loosen up a bit as it seats in to the drum and the extra clearance can soften the feel of the shift. As long as you maintain the 1/16' they mention it shouldn't be too tight.
