Junior Member Location: Las Vegas | Apex FSS trigger kit install on newer model M&P 9mm I just finished the install of the Apex aluminum trigger, forward set sear, and ultimate striker block last night. I must say that it made a HUGE difference in the pull weight and smoothness of the trigger. I don't have a pull scale but it feels like it lessened the pull weight by half and the grittyness totally went away. The rest also was shorter than the factory setting. And lastly, the trigger break went from a mushy creep to a clean crisp click. I installed this kit on a newer version M&P which has a slightly better reset feel vs the older version IMHO, I could not install the RAM kit and as others have stated, and that I must live with the factory reset. There were some small problems I ran into while installing this as all the install videos on youtube weren't very clear. I spent nearly an hour trying to figure out how to get the takedown lever out before pulling the front trigger block. I finally found an article on a guy doing an install and he said to turn the lever to the 2 o'clock position and it could be pulled out. Also, when removing the front block make sure you don't lose the tiny little wire that sits on the left side of the block. This is used to keep the takedown lever from falling out. I dropped mine on the ground and spent another hour trying to find it....Duhhhh! ^&&*()#$% Changing the new sear and spring is straight forward. Next, on the newer trigger kits being sold by Apex. They preinstall the pin that connects the trigger to the trigger bar. The videos show to use the factory pin but you don't need to use this. Also don't try tapping this pin to connect the trigger bar, it won't budge. Its a very tight fit so you need to use a vise grip or bench vise to PRESS the pin in all the way to connect the bar. Lastly, Apex supplies a slave pin to line up the trigger, slide lock lever and trigger spring before dropping it in the frame, its the small plastic yellow pin. This is the hardest part, just take your time and make sure the front roll pin passes through the trigger spring. All in all, I very pleased with the new trigger and how it feels. I just do wish that after spending $160 for this product that Apex includes install instructions. |

The Apex Tactical Forward Set Sear and Trigger kit was designed to mimic a 1911 trigger. This kit moves the trigger breakpoint of a standard Smith & Wesson M&P forward and reduces the uptake and overtravel. Installation of the complete kit will yield a trigger pull of 4-5 lbs. Machined of aircraft grade aluminum and black hard anodized, this parts kit will stand up to years of hard use and show little wear.

Works with all Smith & Wesson M&P Pistols (excluding M&P M2.0) in all centerfire calibers and configurations. Does NOT function in the M&P M2.0, M&P Shield, BodyGuard, 22 or 22 Compact pistols. Does NOT function with Apex Tactical Forward Set Set and Trigger Kit for S&W M&P (224558).
This kit REQUIRES the use of the larger 1/8 inch sear spring and plunger set up. If your M&P has a 1/16th inch diameter sear plunger and spring, we strongly advise you upgrade to a new style sear housing block before installing this product. All function and reliability testing was done with a 1/8 inch sear plunger and spring, therefore we cannot guarantee proper function without the appropriate size sear plunger and spring.
