^This! Be careful what you infer from what you read here. Much of what I see here is new Shield owners and/or new-to-pistols shooters asking questions concerning a perceived (but to them very real) problem. Not that there are not a few legit issues that require help from S&W customer service. But for the most part they come down to new shooters, unfamiliarity with the gun, or both. And that is, after all, what many of us like about this forum - it's a great place to get advice from the 'veteran' M&P owners/shooters. I value the helpful facts and opinions here and for the most part there is no condescension 'that's a dumb question' attitude. Folks are genuinely glad to help. And I hope it stays that way! But if you simply skim through the headlines or just read initial posts, (and the few 'haters') you could easily get the incorrect impression that just about every Shield has problems. No offense intended, but misleading headlines like the OP put on this thread contribute to the misperception, and there have been more than a few of those as well.
